I dedicated my whole life to my career and as a young woman I didn’t even consider becoming a mother as part of my life plan. It was only when I met my actual partner that the desire of having my own family started growing in me. I was 41 by then and as most women, I didn’t know that my age could be a problem. It was only after trying to get pregnant naturally for 2 years that I finally had to go for IVF. My doctor advised me to go for egg donation and I can’t even describe how hard it was to accept not being able to have my own biological child. We were addressed to IVI clinic in Barcelona and having to go abroad didn’t make things easier. After the first failed attempt we were very disappointed and we considered giving up. Fortunately we then accepted the doctor’s advice to transfer the frozen embryos that were left and we now have two wonderful twins! I know it can be a painful path but believe me when I say it is worth it.
